2024 Honda CR-V Specs, Colors, Redesign – Car manufacturers have been frantically expanding their tall-bodied lineups to keep up with the growing demand for SUVs and crossovers in Europe. Without a green compact crossover option from Honda, competitors like Kia and Toyota take sales away from the Japanese manufacturer. This is all about squandered opportunities for the H badge, but Honda’s upcoming hybrid 2024 Honda CR-V is set to change that.
The CR-V Hybrid Prototype’s name implies a prototype, but that’s not entirely accurate; this vehicle appears to be production-ready on the outside. This is preferred while Honda has brought hybrid technology to a European-market SUV, but it’s also rumored that the model will be available in the United States at some point in the future. You can count on a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors in any case.
2024 Honda CR-V Redesign
To identify the hybrid CR-V from its non-hybrid siblings, a few cosmetic upgrades may be seen. Also, many of these stylistic improvements may be carried over to future 2024 Honda CR-V models, although Honda isn’t explicit about this in the news release attached.
The wider wheel arches that accommodate a larger wheel and tire package go hand in hand with the larger body dimensions. Although the CR-V Hybrid’s wheel design was first seen in prior model years of the vehicle, it functions just as well on the Hybrid as it does on the conventional model. All the corners and lines of the A-pillars were trimmed down, and the A-pillar design was made even slimmer.
New headlight graphics and Honda’s newest style language are featured on the front fascia. Although the overall impact evolves from the previous model, we believe the visual appeal is strong. The model’s front end appears more confident, and the sharpened edges feel appropriate.
We won’t bring a clear view of the CR-cabin V’s room from Honda, so we’ll have to rely on the normal CR-V for clues. For the dashboard, we’d anticipate it to remain horizontal, with a huge touchscreen in the center console and a three-spoke steering wheel in place. Soft-touch dash coverings, wood trim, and brushed-metal appearance pieces are expected to be used extensively, and a TFT display will be installed behind the steering wheel for added convenience.
On the plus side, there should be enough room in the back for passengers and their belongings and connectivity options such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and USB connections. Drive system info readouts and other hybrid-specific items will round out the hybridization process.
2024 Honda CR-V Engine
It’s not obvious how great a difference is between this car and the hybridized Accord sedan, but Honda has provided some information on its engine and powertrain. This vehicle is powered by a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder i-VTEC gasoline engine coupled to two electric motors in an Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (or i-MMD) hybrid drivetrain.
The wheels are driven by one electric motor, while the generator and battery charger are powered by the other. Drivers can select from three distinct driving ways, but they won’t have to waste time switching between them. As an alternative, the computer makes the necessary adjustments based on what it is being asked to do and defaults to EV Drive, Hybrid Drive, or Engine Drive as the situation requires.
Zero-emission driving is possible thanks to the EV Drive’s ability to draw power straight from the batteries. The Hybrid Drive mode starts up the gas engine and delivers power to the electric generator to maximize efficiency. The electric motor is utilized to augment the gas engine’s power; however, Engine Drive is also an option for those looking for the most power.
2024 Honda CR-V Price and Release Date
The 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid will be fully unveiled “early next year,” and it will go on sale in Europe not long after that. Since Honda hasn’t released official pricing information, we’d estimate it to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $39,137 at current exchange rates (09/06/2024).
