2024 Ford Ecosport Redesign, Review, PriceIntroducing the 2024 Ford EcoSport, a supermini SUV in a crowded but lucrative market. There are many reasons to believe that this new Fiesta will outperform its predecessors, but it hasn’t yet delivered on its potential despite being built on a proven platform. This vehicle was initially constructed to serve emerging markets in South America and Asia, where price and ground clearance are the most important considerations. Consequently, in 2013, it was a car constructed to strict cost bases. Thus, it was unsuitable for more discerning European preferences when Ford began to produce them from factories in India, China, Thailand, and Brazil.

Ford gave the EcoSport a facelift in 2024, which did away with the bulky spare wheel, reworked the suspension, and increased the number of standard features available. For the third period in three years, Ford gave the 2024 Ford EcoSport a substantial facelift and transferred manufacture to Romania to keep up with a slew of new competitors like the Citroen C3 Aircross and Hyundai Kona, and Seat Arona. It’s a considerable improvement over the previous. A car that didn’t get off to the best start in life has had Ford’s engineers knuckle down and do everything to get the most out of the vehicle. It can now pass as a Fiesta at city speeds, where it will spend most of its time, but it still topples over and feels far more top-heavy in the corners than before. But other competitors like the Seat Arona are closer to their supermini ancestors, such as the Fiat 500. Improved sound insulation and European-tuned suspension and steering make it seem less fragile. In terms of performance, it isn’t terrible, but the mild springs mean that you’re swayed around on bumpy roads.

Interior Design

The critical part has arrived, but first, a word about the aesthetics. With its snouty grille and angled headlights, it’s no longer the runt of the litter in Ford’s stable. It’s not a flawed argument to elevate to the new ST-line specification, which includes a sports suspension (which is still not particularly sporty), smoked alloy wheels, a flat bottomed steering wheel, part-leather seats, and ST scuff plates – as long as you enjoy cars that look like they belong in the shoe department. Even on the base Titanium and Zetec trim levels, white, red, black, or orange roof and wing mirrors are available.

It has taken the EcoSport until now, five years after it was introduced, but the problems in the packaging still exist. The car’s backspace is still constrained even with a brilliant new adjustable boot floor, even though the front seats are large and airy. The Seat Arona has a capacity of 355 liters.

This isn’t a problem because there are so many Fords on every street corner in Britain. As long as the engines, transmissions, and other components are well established, you can rest easy knowing it will perform as expected. If you’re on a budget, the 123bhp 1.0 EcoBoost auto will give you 48.7mpg, while the 98bhp 1.5 Duratorq TDCi returns 68.8mpg and 107g/km of CO2 emissions. With either the 123bhp or the 138bhp variant, you can expect to get 54.3mpg and 119g/km of CO2 from the 1.0 EcoBoost manual.

When it comes to engine options, Ford currently offers its three-cylinder 1.0 EcoBoost with either 123 or 138 horsepower and a 1.5 diesel engine that can provide up to 123 horsepower. Exclusively the 123 bhp petrol engine is available with a six-speed automatic transmission. In contrast, the more powerful diesel engine can only have an all-wheel-drive (a first for the EcoSport). The CO2 emissions from the diesel are lower, as you might assume, but the fantastic three-pot petrol – specifically the 138bhp variant – is what we suggest. Although the 0-62mph acceleration in 11.8 seconds may not be fast, it seems healthier because it revs smoothly past 6,000 rpm and is otherwise inconspicuous.

The EcoSport’s biggest flaw is overpriced, although it has no unique selling proposition (other than its well-known brand name). For example, a top-spec Flair Citroen C3 Aircross with higher performance costs over £2,000 less than the older Citroen.
