There are only minor tweaks to the eight-inch standard Ford Sync infotainment system for the 2023 Explorer, but it can still support Android Auto, Apple Car Play, and a built-in WiFi hotspot. There’s also a new 10-inch tablet display for individuals who prefer B&O stereos.
Split-screen functionality is available for most of the new display’s features, which is an ingenious concept in theory. The screen bezel and width are the primary reasons for the execution’s inferiority to Ram’s 12-inch display. If you have Android Auto or Car Play enabled, the map display will take up most of the screen if you make it full-screen. Inside, this is the most divisive area.
2023 Ford Explorer Engine
EcoBoost turbocharged 4-cylinder produces 300 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft of torque in the XLT model. Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission is standard on all Explorers, even the hybrid variant. The ST comes standard with all-wheel drive, while the other trims can have it as an option. The 3.3-liter naturally-aspirated V-6 found in the formal F-150 is coupled to an electric motor in the hybrid variants, resulting in a combined output of 318 horsepower and 322 lb-ft. Another engine, a 3.0-liter EcoBoost with 365 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque, is added to Platinum vehicles.
When equipped with rear-wheel drive, the standard engine’s fuel economy is rated at 24mpg. You can get a 24mpg highway, 18mpg city, and 20mpg combined from the 3.0-liter V6 with all-wheel drive. It’s standard for engines to be able to be stopped and restarted. Rear-wheel-drive 3.0-liter models can tow 5,600 pounds, while 2.3-liter models can tow 5,300 pounds, and the hybrid 3.0-liter model with rear-wheel drive can tow 5,000 pounds. The hybrid’s fuel economy ratings have yet to be released.
2023 Ford Explorer Price and Release Date
After a delayed debut in July, the Ford Explorer’s additional trims will be available for purchase by the end of the year. For $37,770 (with a $1,095 destination fee), the XLT is the entry-level model. The top Platinum trim starts at $59,345 with destination, and the base Limited trim costs $48,225.
